Looking Hopeful
We met with the doctor this evening and he had a good report on Susan's condition. We finally got the results of the CT scan this evening. It did not show any fractures or broken bones in her face. That is a miracle!!! We were all sure there was some extensive damage there. Her kidneys and liver are both working well. That is a good sign. The doctor also informed us that he estimates she was without blood flow for 12-14 minutes. The organs they look at for damage are the kidneys, liver, and brain. Seeing as the first two have responded well, there is a lot of hope that her brain function was not affected. We found out the fever is due to a spot of pneumonia in her right lung. The doctor said that is common in people who are on a ventilator. She is being given a round of antibiotics. They lowered her dosage of sedatives and she was somewhat responsive to our voices. She usually responds with a furrowed brow. She was trying to open her eyes a bit. They are keeping the tube down her throat until morning. Then they will slowly take her off of the oxygen before they remove the tubing completely. It looks as though the internal bleeding has stopped. They think that due to the massive amount of blood thinners they gave her, the injury looked worse than it actually was. We printed off some of the wonderful stories and thoughts and will begin reading them to her tomorrow. We have all enjoyed reading the memories and are reminded again and again of what an amazing woman our mother is. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all you are doing to help us through this. We love you!

Susan, Richard, and Family,
Susan you have been in my prayers constantly. Your progress is a true blessing. You are so loved and surrounded by a wonderful family and group of friends.
You and Richard have a special place in my heart.
I have fond memories of house sitting for you guys! taking care of the animals, watering the plants and getting locked out of the house twice!
My love to you and to the family.

Susan, we want you to know we are all thinking of you and praying for you and your family. What a close call. You were in the right place at the right time. From the updates we are getting (way to go Mindy), it sounds like you are making progress.
Some of us were talking about all the good Christmas Parties you and Richard had.
Your good cooking, fun games, etc. These are memories we will always remember when thinking
of the Coon Family. We miss you guys alot. We have passed the word around
to some of your close friends, the Black's, Jorgenson's, Bauer and some of Richard's
co-workers.
Garry, Faye & Michele and all your friends at ONAN
