Pretty Good Day

Mom's had a pretty good day. Amanda and I(Mindy) have been at the hospital most of the day. She seems to come in and out of sleep. Talk about tired! When she wakes she wants to talk. It is a whisper talk, and hard to understand at times, but a talk nonetheless! She is trying to piece together what has happened. And what's to come. She's asking all of the right questions. Thank goodness the nurse is right outside the door because we don't always know the answers! She's being a very good patient, despite her nursing impulses. The neurologist stopped by this afternoon and was amazed with the difference since two days ago. He told her she was 100% better than where she was 2 days ago. That is great news. The speech therapist came in to assess her swallowing. She is not quite ready for anything but ice chips. But she is grateful for that moisture in her mouth. She does have a rash on her upper torso and down her arms. It is agitating and itchy. But that's good...because she's responding to pain. So we press on forward. It has been a long week, but full of blessings!

Susan- Once again, you have blessed our life. Even in your illness you are an example of love and patience and faith. I will never be able to tell you how much you mean to me and my family.- in addition to all the other gifts with which you have blessed my life, now you have given my children (and us!) an increased faith and testimony in the power of prayer and fasting. Don't you dare think about all this "darn attention" or worry about the "fuss" We are so grateful to you for allowing us to be in your life and for the sweetness of fasting and praying for someone we love so dearly. Richard, Cori, Mindy, Jeremy, Jami, spouses and grandkids- we are praying for you all and are sending so much love across the miles. Thank-you for sharing your life with us- through thick and thin!
Lots of Love,
Christine and Ken Hansen
and family

We are keeping up on Susan's progress. Yesterday was a day of prayers as we joined her family and friends in prayer (noon California time). So happy for the good news today. PRAYER WORKS...

We are so thankful.

We have been watchful of Susan's progress and of course all of you have been in our prayers. We have been especially prayerful that Susan would be blessed with a sense of peace as she begins to recover and can't quite figure out where she is and what has happened. Two things come to mind as the posts of the past day are read: first, most recoveries include good days and not so good days. Don't let the challenging days discourage you. Second, the primary caregiver needs to take care of himself-eat and sleep well to maintain your own strength. Richard, you will be Susan's right arm for a few weeks and you will need to take some time to nourish yourself in order to do that. Do know that we are cheering you on and keeping all of you in our prayers. You can move away from us, but you will always be in our hearts.

Dear susan...oh how I wish I could be there near you and be of some kind of help.
even in your illness you continue to be an example of love and patience and strength. You will fight your way back to health I know you will. Each update that comes across the Blog sustains us. We love you so much and are so greatful that your family shares the news with us. we would go crazy if we couldn't get some news. We have remenised for days now of our times together. tubing on the river, camping trips, winter retreat in the kitchen, parties at your house, girls camp, womens conference, you Jami,Erin and me driving to Utah together. attending Jeremy and
amandas wedding.
every bithday you would show up at my door with a birthday cake in hand. one morning very earley I looked out my window to find you weeding in my yard because you wanted to lift my spirits when I was feeling low. Your phone calls when I was in the hospital last year. Your frindship goes back along way I thank the lord often for sending us to Minnesota so I could have you and Richard and your family in our lives. you are in our thoughts every minute of everyday. thank you guys for all you do. love Jacque and Dean
