Baby Steps
Mom had a restless night last night. The only thing that seemed to calm her was when dad was sitting right next to her bed holding her hand. The big miracles were that they didn't have to #1 re-sedate her and #2 re-intubate her. This morning the mask that was administering oxygen and other meds was removed. She is just on oxygen through he nose. She has some sort of a rash on her chest, neck, and back. It is some sort of allergic reaction to one of the meds. She is making small progressions. They are enough to make the doctors, her nurses and us happy and content with her prognosis. The doctor informed us last night that upon being discharged from the cardiac unit she will need to spend 1-2 weeks at an in-patient rehab center. She has to remember how to use her limbs, faculties, and other body parts. The lucky part is there is one closer to our house. Only about 15 minutes...much better than the now 1 hour commute to the hospital. More to come...

A week ago when I heard this news I felt helpless. I couldn't seem to do anything except worry. I feel so much gratitude to Susan, Richard and family for contributing so much to my life as a confused young person. Susan was my first Den mother! We have been anxious, prayerful and hopeful for Susan the past 6 days. We are still pulling for you SUSAN! I'm so relieved that she has made progress but we will remain prayerful for full recovery. Thank you for keeping us well informed.

Dear Coon family,
It was wonderful to be with you last night and to feel your collective love for Susan. That love is so powerful and, as you've seen, combined with faith, can truly create miracles!
Even thought I haven't seen your family in 15 (!) years, I am so grateful for the many times Richard and Susan welcomed me into their home when I (and many others) were crazy beehives and miamaids - how I love those memories.
Susan and family, you are all in my continual prayers.
Much love,
Summer
Jacque has been keeping me up to date on the progress that Susan is making, it is so wonderful the miracles of modern medicine, the resiliency of the human spirit and especially the blessing of our Father in Heaven. We as a family have so many wonderful memories of Susan and her great love for people, pets, family, her job, and not least her calling in the church. She wears many hats and wears them well. We pray for her and the family continually in this time of trial, we rejoice with the good news and worry with the setbacks, we pray of a full and speedy recovery. Bless each of you at this time,
We love you all,
Dean Barnhart
Thank you so much for keeping this site updated. It is so heartening to continue hearing good news, and to see the comments of so many friends from Minnesota and realize how loved your family is. We'll keep on praying!
